Attendance
Find the late punch today, not on payday.
Every punch is measured against the schedule on the day it happens, so nothing waits for the end of the period.

What happens to one punch
Nothing reaches pay until you say so.
The punch lands with its time, the photo taken at that moment, and the place it was made.
Timekeep measures it against the schedule and works out the late, undertime, overtime, and overbreak minutes.
You excuse a late, or approve the overtime. Only what you approve is paid.
Open a day, and it explains itself.
Late, overtime, undertime, and overbreak sit at the top of the record. Under them are the breaks and the photo taken at each punch, so you see what happened before you change anything.

What comes with it
The minutes are counted, and you decide what they cost.
Late, undertime, overtime, overbreak
Timekeep works out all four in minutes, from the schedule, on the day they happen.
Excuse what deserves it
Mark a late or an undertime as excused, and payroll counts it as zero. The original minutes stay on the record.
Approve only the overtime you agreed to
Approve every minute worked, or fewer. Overtime you do not approve is not paid at all.
Breaks counted on their own
Each break is kept with its own start and end, so a long lunch shows as overbreak instead of quietly becoming paid time.
Before you ask
Questions owners ask in the first week.
Does overtime pay by itself?
No. The minutes are counted when they happen, but they only reach pay once you approve them, and you can approve fewer than were worked.
Somebody forgot to clock out. Now what?
Open the record and correct the time. Saving works the late, overtime, undertime, and overbreak minutes out again from the schedule.
Can I forgive a late?
Yes. Mark it excused and payroll treats it as zero minutes late. The real minutes stay on the record, so the history is still honest.
Somebody says the record is wrong. Now what?
Open the punch. The photo taken at that moment and the place it was made are on it, so you check instead of argue.
Next in the flow
Attendance hands its records to these, the same day.
Try it beside your spreadsheet.
Run one cutoff in Timekeep and compare it against the sheet you keep now. If the numbers do not match, you have lost nothing.
