Payroll

Review incomplete attendance before payroll

Find and correct clock-ins with no clock-out before you build payslips.

Before you start

You need an existing draft payroll run. Owners and managers can run payroll. Only an owner can edit a missing clock-out in Attendance, so a manager may need the owner to correct it.

An incomplete attendance record has a clock-in but no clock-out. Timekeep excludes it from pay and stops the payroll run until it is resolved. Staff who use Full Day Clock In do not need a clock-out and are not treated as incomplete.

Steps

  1. Go to Attendance.
  2. Set the start and end dates to the attendance dates covered by the payroll run.
  3. Set the status filter to Incomplete. You can also use the employee filter to match the people included in the run.
  4. Review every row. Open the row's actions menu and click Edit to add the correct clock-out. Follow Correct an attendance record for the complete steps.
  5. Return to Payroll, open the draft run, and click Run Payroll.

If you start from the payroll run, Incomplete attendance found lists up to 10 affected records for the selected employees. Click Review attendance to open Attendance with the date range and Incomplete filter already set.

What happens next

Timekeep checks again before building any payslips. Once no selected employee has an incomplete record in the run's attendance dates, payroll can continue.

Review the other attendance figures too. Approved overtime, excused late time or undertime, and recalculated metrics can change pay even when a row is complete.

Common problems

  • Edit is missing from the row menu. Managers can view attendance and approve overtime, but only an owner can edit the record.
  • The dialog says there are more records than it shows. Click Review attendance to see the full filtered list.
